Risk and Practice Management
Mentorship Program
Many organizations now recognize that mentoring is key to maintaining and enhancing professionalism and lawyering skills. Mentoring can help improve relationships among lawyers, promote camaraderie, and help address issues of stress and isolation faced by many lawyers. The mentor receives the satisfaction of helping someone grow and succeed in the practice of law, while the mentee benefits from the opportunity to receive regular encouragement and support, explore new ideas and alternatives, and develop new contacts and networking opportunities.
In order to participate, fill out the Mentorship Program Application Form online, or download the PDF version and save to your desktop and forward to Stacey Gerrard, LIANS Counsel, at sgerrard@lians.ca
Once registered, access the following Model Mentoring Activity Plan and Mentoring Guidelines Booklet
Mentorship Program launch
On Wednesday, April 6th, the LIANS and NSBS Mentorship Program was officially launched with a reception that not only introduced the program to the participants but allowed them an opportunity to meet each other. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Honourable Judge Anne Derrick for taking the time to say a few words about the importance and benefits a mentorship program has to offer. For those not able to attend last night’s event, we asked Judge Derrick if we could put a copy of her speech on our website to share with them, and she very kindly agreed.
