Quick tips for better attention management

With today’s technology, we may feel as though we are on the clock 24/7 but this can come at a price. After-hours communications with clients, colleagues and staff speed up corporate culture, compromising creativity, innovation and engagement.

Here are some ways to create an environment that is less distracting and more productive:

  • Create and implement a policy that refrains from after-hours email communication (i.e., 10:00 pm – 7:00 am).
  • Manage client and colleague expectations by implementing a 24-hour rule when replying to email, with the exception of emergencies.
  • Implement a “no device” policy during meetings.

Creating an environment that encourages “down time”, single-tasking and focus allows you to use your brain power in a meaningful and less frantic way, helping you avoid mistakes that could lead to claims.
