Amendments to Limitations of Actions Act proclaimed Sept.1st, 2015

The provincial government has announced that the amendments to the Limitations of Actions Act will be proclaimed effective September 1st, 2015.

The Act establishes a two-year basic limitation period and creates an ultimate limitation period of 15 years, and does not apply to real estate matters nor does it apply to sexual misconduct and abuse in an intimate or dependent relationship.

Lawyers are reminded to track limitation dates carefully and to file their actions on time to avoid claims against them.
