DOJ guidebook for the new Limitation of Actions Act

The amended Limitation of Actions Act was proclaimed September 1st, 2015.

The Act establishes a two-year basic limitation period (including motor vehicle claims) and creates an ultimate limitation period of 15 years. It does not apply to real estate matters.  The amended legislation can be found here: http://nslegislature.ca/index.php/proceedings/bills/limitation_of_actions_act_-_bill_64

The Department of Justice has prepared the following guide featuring a Q&A section, a Transition Rules Flowchart and a Table of Concordance:

Lawyers are reminded to continue to track limitation dates carefully and to file their actions on time to avoid claims against them.
