Volunteers wanted: Wills, POA & Personal Directives Standards Committee; and LAP Committee

LAP Committee

LIANS is looking for volunteers interested in joining its Lawyers Assistance Program Committee. The Committee is tasked with monitoring the provision of the Nova Scotia Lawyers Assistance Program's (NSLAP) services (the program established to assist lawyers in handling or avoiding personal, emotional, medical or substance abuse problems), the peer volunteer program, the promotion of the program and the provision of education on the program to the membership. If you are interested in joining the Committee, please contact LIANS' Director of Insurance, Lawrence Rubin.

Wills, Powers of Attorney and Personal Directives Standards Committee

Council has established a new standards committee for wills, powers of attorney and personal directives. Tim Matthews QC of Stewart McKelvey has agreed to act as the Committee’s first Chair and we are now looking for volunteers to join it. At a minimum, 30% of your practice should be devoted to these areas of law and ideally, the Committee will include Members from private practice, in-house and government to cover all perspectives. The goal is for the constituted Committee to have its first meeting in the fall of 2019. If you are interested in participating on this Committee, please contact LIANS' Director of Insurance, Lawrence Rubin for more information.
